Domestic Plumbing Course

Our Plumbing Course covers the topics required for you to work effectively on domestic plumbing systems.

Pre-Requisites
To enrol on this programme, you don’t need any previous experience of plumbing. The most important requirement is a desire to learn.

Learning Method
The course is provided as a blended learning programme, which includes home study and practical workshop modules. Each module ends with an assessment to ensure you achieve the desired competency that will determine your progress through the course.

Practical Workshops
You will be attending a series of 5 day practical sessions at our training centre to complete the practical work modules that make up your programme. These practical modules will give you the underpinning knowledge and experience required to carry out domestic plumbing work.

These elements will form the basis of your skills and give you a theoretical understanding through training, assessment and exams, giving you the skills and confidence to work effectively and safely on various plumbing systems. At any stage during the course you will have the opportunity to discuss your progress with one of our expert tutors, who will be guiding you through your training.

You can build a portfolio of work which can be used as proof of your accomplishments. You will need to provide your own overalls and steel toe-capped working shoes, although these can be provided at cost price.
All necessary tools will be provided for the duration of your training.

Two Qualifications
Students who successfully complete the training will achieve the Open College Network Units of Credit Certificates for the practical phase of training which includes copper pipe work, bathroom installation with cold water storage cistern and hot water cylinder plus installing radiators.

During the final module of the programme you will achieve the Bpec Water Regulations Certificate (WRAS).

Course Duration:
4 weeks (up to 2 years to complete the course)

Tutor Support
Our tutors are available to provide you with all the necessary support to complete your training programme. If this support is required whilst you are not actually attending a practical workshop, you can contact a tutor by telephone. This service is available between 8am and 4pm from Monday to Friday.

Careers Advice
One of the benefits of training with Access Training (Wales) is that the individuals who run our courses have experience of working in the industry and are only too keen to pass on their knowledge.

They can guide you in the right direction for either gaining employment with reputable firms or
becoming self-employed.
